Advancing GHEDEX: Insights from the 2nd Advisory Board Meeting

Insights from GHEDEX 2nd  Advisory Board Meeting.

On 15th of November 2022, GHEDEX Organizing Committee has conducted the 2nd Advisory Board Meeting at the Ministry of Education, Oman, sharing crucial ideas and having discussions about education prospects and coordination of further opportunities for the coming exhibition.

The meeting started with the GHEDEX team giving a brief about both the upcoming events; The 22nd Edition of GHEDEX Group of Events and the 2nd Edition of Future Skills & HRD Conference & Awards 2023. In his speech, Amr Abdullah Baabood, CEO of ARB/OITE, congratulated the top 6 universities that were given the QS Arab Region University Ranking of 2023.

The board members were then invited to share their suggestions and inputs on GHEDEX exhibition and The Future Skills & HRD Conference & Awards of 2023.  One of the members suggested “GHEDEX to expand to regional countries; Iran, Iraq etc. and accredited universities outside. While another addressed the importance of connecting institutions and bridging the gap between universities and the workforce industry.

Another member raised questions about the challenges companies face in human resources development and the distinction between internships and skills. Other recommendations included having a day after the conference for discussions as a hand-on experience. Additionally, considering where postgraduates are heading, and exploring opportunities for trainees in small and medium-sized enterprises.

Overall, the advisory members provided useful recommendations that will assist in improving the global higher education exhibition in Oman.
