In his speech, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq stressed the importance of improving personal skills, supporting projects based on innovation, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and training youth to prepare them for their future. To achieve sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman, in 2019, The Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) announced the first national framework for future skills, which identifies the most important skills required to serve graduates and job seekers during the next 10 to 15 years. The framework aims at giving a unified vision for educators, education and training providers to integrate in the curriculum and system. It also aims to create consistent common understanding between universities, institutes, and employers, and develop an education system to align with the robust labor market.
Future skills are prerequisite abilities that prepare students for school, life, and work by allowing them to use information, communication, and multimedia technology in order to prepare for future jobs. These future skills help to enrich education and training outcomes to enter the job market and keep pace with the ever-changing skills required in the labor market.
Given the profound significance of future skills, Future Skills and HRD Conference was held at Crown Plaza in December, 2021. This year from 27- 29 March 2022, Future Skills and Human Resource Development Exhibition will be held at Oman Convention and Exhibition center. It is one of the most important exhibitions for youths as it will focus on reducing unemployment by discovering essential skills for the job market. This exhibition will provide a great Corporate Social Responsibility opportunity for the government and large corporations to showcase and promote future skills that are needed to perform current and future jobs, with the goal of reducing the gap between education and employment.
